Shooting Hymn to Pan

François Miron began makings films in 1982, working exclusively with emulsion (as in film NOT video) the body of his early work consist of several short experimental films, all created using a powerful film image manipulation technique that he has mastered: optical printing, in 1990 he received an MFA in filmmaking from The School of The Art Institute Of Chicago where he went under a full merit scholarship, all of his films have been screened in festivals and all sorts of venues throughout the world, his work received countless awards and true underground acclaim, aside from this, the cult director produces music videos, feature title sequence design, photography and short and feature length independent surrealistic narrative films, since 1993 he has been teaching optical printing, filmmaking, and technical aspects of films at the Mel Hoppenheim School Of Cinema in Montreal. As you are reading this right now, somewhere in the world, at this very moment one of his films is projected either at a festival, behind a psychedelic band playing live, in a classroom , on top of people at a rave, in the back of Art gallery, in a museum or on a television set in a damp basement.......

Besides several short film projects, he has completed production on "The 4th Life" a 35mm. feature film project written with James Galwey, the feature is now completed and has had international festival release. It premiered in Montreal this summer at the Fantasia film festival. This film is in part funded by Telefilm Canada, the SODEC and the Conseil Des Arts et Des Lettres du Québec. The North American distributor for this film is ATOPIA , more info on that film, including trailer pictures and other thing are on the official site at www.the4thlife.com. The theatrical release is set for early 2008.

The new short film Hymn to Pan opened the Ann Arbor Film Festival in 2007 and it was featured at the Toronto International Film Festival, The Antimatter Underground Film Festival in Victoria and The Montreal Nouveau Cinema Festival.

The director is working on the pre-production of a 2nd feature, co-written with filmmaker/scriptwriter Denis Chouinard.
